Read the Bible.
Give it to your church.

Finish a chapter in Letter To God, answer one question about it, and the chapter is recorded. What you have read can be given to your church.

Plainly, before anything else. A record of a chapter is a note saying you read it. It may never be worth any money, and you should not expect it to be. Nothing is for sale here, nothing is asked of you or your church, and we collect nothing about you. If any of that changes, this page will say so before it does.

How it works

  1. Read a chapter in the app, as you already do.
  2. Answer one question about what you read — a single missing word from the chapter. You can skip it, and getting it wrong costs nothing. The chapter still counts as read.
  3. The chapter is recorded. A signed note, kept on your phone.
  4. Give it to your church whenever you like, from inside the app. One tap, and everything you have read so far goes at once.

Why give it away?

Because a reward you keep turns reading into scoring, and scoring scripture is a poor idea. A reward that points at your church does not. Your church has a reason to encourage reading, the congregation reads together, and what you read counts for something outside yourself.

What your church sees

A count. “Our congregation has read 4,200 chapters this year.” Never who read what, never anyone’s name — we do not have those to give.

Questions people ask

Do I need an account?

No. Letter To God has no sign-in at all. You are a key your phone generated, and we never learn anything else about you.

What if I lose my phone?

Chapters you have not yet given go with it. That is the real cost of not holding an account for you, and we would rather say so than pretend. It is why giving them to your church now and then is worth doing.

Is this a way of making money?

No, and please do not treat it as one. The point is reading the Bible. The record is a way of marking that you did, and giving it away is what it is for.

Is my church already on the list?

Only if it has asked to be. Churches are added by hand, one at a time, after we have checked the church exists and that the person asking belongs to it. It takes a day or two, and it is why there are no invented parishes on the list.

What does it cost a church?

Nothing. There is nothing to pay, nothing to install and nothing to sign.

For churches

If you would like your church on the list, email us from a church address and we will set it up.
