Your congregation is reading.
We will keep the count.

People who use Letter To God can give the chapters they have read to their church. If that is your church, this is everything it involves.

What we will never do. We will not ask your church for money. We will not ask for your congregation’s details, and we could not use them if you offered — the app has no accounts and we hold no names. We will not put your church’s name on anything without asking you first.

What you get

  • A page of your own. What the congregation is reading today, the week ahead, and what to catch up on. Nothing to log into — it is a web address you can put anywhere.
  • Posters and pew slips, ready to print. Plain A4, black and white is fine, each one carrying a code that opens your page. Nothing to design and nothing to pay.
  • A reading plan the whole church follows. Pick one — Psalms in 30 days, the Gospels, the whole Bible in a year — and everyone sees the same chapter on the same day.
  • A count of what your congregation has read. “St Mary’s has read 4,200 chapters this year.” Some churches put it in the pew sheet. That is the whole of it.
  • Nothing to install. No software, no login, no integration with anything you already run.

What it costs

Nothing, now or later. There is no paid tier for churches and there is no plan to add one.

What we see

A number, and how many separate phones it came from. Not a name, not an email, not a chapter tied to a person. The app has no accounts, so those are not ours to see or to lose.

Joining

Churches are added by hand. We check that the church exists and that the person asking belongs to it, which takes a day or two and is why there are no invented parishes on the list.

Email hello@letterstogodapp.org from a church address, with:

Church name:
Town or city:
Website (if you have one):
Your name and role:
Reading plan (optional, see below):

We will reply with the address of your church’s page and where to print from. Same day, usually.

The reading plans to choose from

Any of these, starting on any date you like. You can change it later, or have none at all — whatever anyone reads still counts.

  • Psalms in 30 Days — five psalms a day
  • Proverbs in 31 Days — a chapter a day, a month
  • The Gospels in 40 Days — Matthew through John, good for Lent
  • Paul’s Letters in 21 Days — Romans through Philemon
  • The New Testament in 90 Days
  • The Bible in a Year, or in Two Years at a gentler pace

Questions a vicar might reasonably ask

Is this a fundraising scheme?

No. Nothing given here converts into money for anyone, and no money passes through us to you or from you to us.

Does it gamify scripture?

It is the risk, and it is why the reward points outward rather than back at the reader. There is no streak, no league table, no total for an individual to grow, and nothing in the app congratulates anyone for reading faster.

What is the question people answer?

One missing word from the chapter they just read. It is there to tell reading from tapping, not to test anyone’s understanding of scripture. It can be skipped, and getting it wrong costs nothing.

Who is behind it?

A small independent app, not a church body and not speaking for one. hello@letterstogodapp.org reaches a person.

Can we leave?

Yes, any time, by email. Your church comes off the list and the count goes with it.
